The No.1 Paphos Excursion: 100% Cyprus Tour

Paphos Excursions

Cyprus is not a huge country, but there is still so much to see and do.

Paphos is a popular place to stay – and it is easy to see why. Not only are there plenty of beaches, hotel resorts and restaurants along the coastline, but there are also lots of fun activities to take part in not too far from the city itself. There are plenty of things to do in Paphos, and up into the Akamas National Park area too.

From Blue Lagoon cruises and quad bike safaris to winery tours and local village classes, there is a day trip from Paphos for everyone.

If you’re looking to get out for the day but don’t want to spend 5 hours on a bus, take a look at these best-selling Paphos excursions and see which ones tick all of your boxes!

Paphos Boat Excursions

If there is one thing you must do whilst you’re in Paphos, it’s taking a boat trip! There are plenty of different types, for every type of traveller and every member of the family.

Whether you are looking for a relaxing day out at the Blue Lagoon, or you want a kid-friendly party, you’re spoilt for choice. These types of Paphos excursions are great because they usually involve extra activities, be that a BBQ, fireworks or snorkelling.

Make sure you bring your swimwear because you won’t be able to resist getting in the water for most of these trips!

Self-Drive Private Boat Hire

Location: Latchi

Have you ever driven your own boat? Well, in Paphos all you need is a driving licence and you’ll be able to take out a boat all to yourself for the day! Enjoy your new skills (a short lesson is given to you before you head off!) and cruise around the coastline.

The Blue Lagoon, set in the Akamas National Park, is around a 20-minute boat ride away from the harbour, so you can spend the day there if you like, or anchor up somewhere else but either way, you’ll be treated to stunning views and gorgeous waters!

Your boat is equipped with a cool box, life jackets and snorkelling equipment* so bring your packed lunch and spend the day exploring the area by boat!

This was SUCH a good experience!

This has to be on your bucket list – I was a little scared at the thought of being in control of a boat for the first time but once you understand how the simple controls work, it is so much fun! You can go as fast or as slow as you like, you can stop in any of the beautiful bays and once you anchor you get to swim in the stunning waters.

This was one of the best days of our trip to Paphos and I highly recommend it. If you are travelling in a group, then hiring your own boat is definitely the way to go. They sit between 6 – 11 people and once you split the cost, you’ll be paying similar to or less than a group tour to the Blue Lagoon but you’ll be in full control of your day!

Hire your boat here.

*Check if snorkelling equipment is provided due to safety restrictions – if not, you can bring your own.

Greatever Snorkel Set

We all know how frustrating it can be to hire snorkels from local vendors as the quality tends to be below par, or they just immediately fog up. We have chosen the Greatever snorkel set due to its affordability, face fit, and anti-fog attributes, which all combined make for an excellent addition to your luggage!

This is the best Blue Lagoon tour if you’re only interested in spending time on the boat. Unlike the sightseeing tour above, on this trip, you’ll skip the landmarks and get straight onto the boat.

If you’ve already seen a lot of the famous sights, then this tour is perfect because you get to spend all of your time in the Blue Lagoon. Without the additional stops and pickup, this tour is a lot cheaper than the others on this list so it’s great if you’re on a budget but still want to experience the lagoon!

Wine Trips

Did you know that Cyprus has over 50 wineries across the island? Wine has been produced here for thousands of years, with the famous Commandaria being known as the world’s oldest wine!

While you’re in Paphos excursions to the Troodos Mountains are ideal – they’re full of local wineries and vineyards, so they’re the perfect place to treat your tastebuds to a variety of fermented grape juice.

Vine Venture: Troodos Mountains Through Wine

Location: Troodos Mountains

On this day trip from Paphos, you will visit not just one, but four different wineries! You’ll be able to compare and pick your favourite wines, as well as learn about the history of the process.

A meze lunch is included to soak up the alcohol, and you will get the opportunity to buy any of your preferred drinks too.

The Grape Escape: Troodos Mountains

Location: Troodos Mountains

This is another winery trip through the Troodos Mountains. However, I’ve included this wine tour in my top Paphos excursions list despite it being similar to the Vine Venture trip because it’s a cheaper alternative.

You still visit a winery, a traditional Cypriot village (taste local coffee here!) and you also will see a 1000-year-old monastery!

I would recommend this Paphos wine-tasting tour if you are looking to spend less money, and if you’re short on time too as this one lasts around four hours compared to seven for the Vine Venture.

Culture Trips

Cyprus is full of fascinating history and interesting cultures. There are traditional stories, artefacts and trades that you can learn about from your tour guides, as well as tales as recent as the 1970s that affect the country now.

Choosing one of the cultural tours is a great way to find out what Cyprus is really like and how the past has shaped it today.

100% Cyprus: Troodos Mountains

Location: Troodos Mountains

The 100% Cyprus tour is truly a fantastic day out for everyone. So many people stay close to the beaches and the touristy bars whilst in Cyprus, not realising that the nearby mountainous region is stunning and full of fascinating history!

We loved each stop on this tour – especially the winery!

Things To Remember When Booking Your Paphos Excursions

When booking, don’t forget to check what your package includes. Do you have to bring your own snacks, or is lunch included? Are there any extras you might need to keep some spare change for? Will you be picked up from your hotel or is there a special meeting point?

Most trips go without a hitch, but you don’t want to ruin your day just because you didn’t read the small print.

Make sure that you are ready on time! Usually, the bus or the tour guide will wait for guests who are slightly late, but it’s not fair for all of the other paying customers to make them wait.

It’s also likely to upset the tour company because even though you’ll be happy that they waited for you, other people might then leave a bad review because they couldn’t spend as much time doing the activity they paid for.

If you’re visiting with children, double-check the age limits on the Paphos tours you try out. Most companies are welcoming to family groups, but if you have young kids then an activity might not be suitable or practical for them.

Did any of those Paphos excursions tickle your fancy? Book your ideal day tours and let us know how your adventure was!
